The Great Tanner Road Trip: We're home!

At around 6:30 p.m. tonight, we arrived back at our condo in Chicago. Whew, what a long trip! It's hard to believe we were actually gone for 17 days.

That's 3155.7 miles!

Amy set the trip computer before we left, and once we pulled our RAV4 into the garage, it tabulated that we had driven 3,156 miles! Wow!

Fortunately, we didn't arrive to any crazy surprises. Well, except for maybe one. Apparently, a can of pineapple slices exploded in our cabinets. (And I don't even like pineapple slices!)

You don't even want to see the inside of this can!

With the heat and lack of circulation, it looked pretty gross and moldy. And pretty much got everywhere on a couple shelves. Not the end of the world. Just a minor inconvenience. Things could have been worse.

So, there you have it. When I first looked at our trip map, I had a hard time believing we'd cover all those miles.

Completed!

However, there is quite a sense of accomplishment looking at that map now. Of course, there's also a lot of exhaustion, dirty laundry, and wondering if we kinda overdid it. Go figure.

I just got one a few days before our trip too! It's SO crazy! We put 3 months' worth of driving onto my car in 2 1/2 weeks!

Your route is in the shape of India.

Glad you made it home safe and sound!

Welcome home. While I encouraged Steve to unplug for this trip, I have to admit it was fun to go along for the ride. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
