Alias: Season 1: Episode 19: Snowman
Quote:
Official Site Synopsis
Last week on Alias, Francie and Will were questioning Sydney's truthfulness, Jack was in counseling, and Sydney met up with an old flame, Noah and were sent on a mission to Russia where their passion re-ignited.
We first open with Sydney and Noah lying in bed and Sydney woken up by Noah, telling her that "they found us," as a hummer pulls up, men rush out and they start shooting once inside the house. Escaping into a nearby barn, Sydney and Noah mount a stored motorcycle and make a break for their rendezvous point thirty minutes early with the Hummer in hot pursuit. Using some sort of escape parachute, Sydney and Noah are pulled to safety via an extraction plane that locked on to their signal.
Back in Los Angeles, Sydney meets up with Vaughn where she learns that K-Directorate is after Khasinau as is SD-6 and Vaughn informs her that K-Directorate hired a free-lance assassin code-named Snowman to take Khasinau out.
Meanwhile, Will and Francie lie in wait back at Sydney's ready to confront her about her ticket they found from Italy, when she said she was elsewhere. But when Sydney tells them she's off to bed, they ultimately don't bring up the subject and nothing is resolved.
At the SD-6 HQ, Noah confronts Sydney and asks her to go away with him. Apparently he's been skimming money from Russian mafia accounts and has money in offshore accounts and they can just disappear together. Unfortunately, Sydney really isn't up to it as she still wants to learn the truth about her mother.
Across the hall in Sloane's office, he's handed a folder with a "follow-up" about Agent Noah Hicks. Apparently it's incriminating stuff as Noah is not allowed to leave the building and Sloane needs to meet with his superiors.
Sydney then meets with her father and they discuss the files recovered from Khasinau's super-computer. Jack informs Sydney that there were some videos of her mother, but he didn't view them as they didn't relate to the case and he couldn't afford the risk.
On the main floor, Noah starts a conversation with Dixon and we find out that Dixon doesn't trust Noah - he feels that Noah would not cover his back if necessary. Just then two SD-6 thugs walk up and escort Noah away and into a lie detector room. Apparently they have uncovered information regarding Noah's offshore accounts with money totaling over $47 million dollars.
While Noah was being interrogated, Sydney was elsewhere at SD-6 watching the video files recovered from Khasinau. On the tapes, we see Laura Bristow, being interrogated by the KGB. As one of the interviewers turns around, Sydney freezes the frame and looks astonished, but it's unclear who the person in question is. Later we find out that the two interrogators were Khasinau and an FBI agent that supposedly was chasing Laura when she "died."
Sydney then meets up with her father on top of some building where Sydney unveils a plan to find Khasinau. Jack also tells Sydney about the investigation into Noah and his financial statements. Sydney backs him up and asks Jack to talk to Sloane
At the CIA, Vaughn is off to Bogotá, Columbia on the trail of the 'Snowman' and asks Agent Weiss to look after his dog. Once he finally arrives in Bogotá, Vaughn meets up with an informant and we learn a little background on the 'Snowman' from a former victim. He promises Vaughn some new info only if Vaughn promises that when he finds the 'Snowman,' he will suffer too.
Back in Sloane's office, we see Sloane on the phone with his wife - a soft moment for a hard man. Jack then walks in and tells Sloane that Noah is a valuable agent and should not be just tossed away. He puts forth Sydney's idea to get Khasinau and despite Sloane's misgivings, Jack is able to convince him to leave Noah alone for the time being. On the floor of SD-6, Sydney's walking along and sees her father on the phone who points her towards Noah sitting in Marshall's office, laughing up a storm - apparently Jack's talk with Sloane paid off. Sloane then gives Sydney and Noah the mission and when Sydney goes to Vaughn for the counter-mission,
On their mission in Cape Town, Sydney and Noah are to break into a server room and access files relating to bank accounts tied to Calder, a FBI agent working for the KGB with ties to Khasinau. Using noise cancellers of some sort whipped up by Marshall, they are able to access the vault and get onto the servers. Using a wireless modem, Noah is able to hack into the servers and download the files into his laptop. But when a knot that Noah ties is about to give way, Sydney has to do everything in her power to not touch the server case. Luckily Noah notices it at the last moment and Sydney is able to climb to safety...
Back at SD-6 HQ, we see Jack watching the video interrogations with Laura Bristow, in which she tells the two agents about how she was able to gain intel without Jack's knowledge. She tells them that he was "blinded by his emotions" and goes on to say, "Jack Bristow was a fool." Ouch. After watching the video, Jack heads over to the CIA where he meets up with his shrink and asks her for time later in the afternoon.
At Sydney and Francie's house, Will and Francie are playing a video game when Sydney walks in. They look suspicious, so Sydney asks them why they're looking at her like that and Francie shows her the ticket from Italy when she should have been in Seattle. Sydney tells them that she's signed non-disclosure agreements, so Francie and Will can't tell anyone about what she's about to say. She then tells them that she flies to clients who don't want a paper trail, so she goes to them to pick up the papers, rather than them having to mail it. Sydney then goes into the bathroom where she is apparently confused/upset about having to lie to her two best friends. Contemplating leaving with Noah perhaps?
Sydney goes to Marshall later the next day and finds out that there was nothing on the computer that Noah used in Cape Town. Apparently they had active counter measures so it erased the hard drive when they exited the building. Sydney goes to talk to Noah about it when Sloane walks in and assigns Noah another mission. Sydney doesn't think Noah should go after being undercover for so long. Later Noah and Sydney meet on a beach in Los Angeles and Noah tells Sydney that he's not actually going on the mission, but instead, going to Tuvalu where he is going to tap into his bank accounts and disappear from the life he leads now. He tries to get Sydney to leave with him, and he gives her a ticket for a week later if she decides to join him.
At SD-6, we see Marshall running around looking for Sloane - Marshall was able to recover data on the hard drive of the laptop and has figured out where Calder is.
Using the reconstructed data, Sydney and Dixon are sent on a mission to Australia to grab Calder to bring back to SD-6 for questioning. After asking Dixon to leave, Sloane tries to get close to Sydney, but it seems forced and quite odd...
Vaughn later requests a meeting with Sydney to talk about her mission and she also asks Vaughn about the 'Snowman.' Vaughn senses something is wrong and tells Syd she can always
MacKay, Australia: Sydney and Dixon are about to break into Clader's place, but things look out of the ordinary - as there are no guards and an open door. Sydney enters the house and finds three dead guards and we also learn via Vaughn that Sydney's in danger, but they can't contact her. As she enters the kitchen, she encounters a masked man stabbing Calder. After some martial arts, Sydney ends up under a knife wielded by the masked man but is able to just barely kick out of it. The masked man then falls on the knife, and as Sydney removes his mask we find Noah underneath. Dixon then bursts in, sees Sydney bent over the body, and they leave...
