Clue Candy

Last November, I got an e-mail from my friend Jason Steele (FernLaplante in the TannerWorld Junction discussion forums). He mentioned coming across something called "Clue Candy" that seemed to be based on the boardgame.

2002-style Clue candy box

Made in China and distributed by the Frankford Candy & Chocolate Co. ("America's #1 supplier of licensed confectionery products"), the Clue Candy is part of a 4-Pack of "Game Night Candy" that features classic Hasbro games. Recently my friend Melissa Black (Mommymeepa) found this item for me to review.

Little candy wrenches and candlesticks

Inside the small Clue box are PEZ-like pieces of candy depicting a green candlestick and a blue wrench. As for the flavor, I would agree with Jason's initial assessment that they taste like "expired PEZ". These candies were absolutely horrible! I mean... yuck, yuck, yuck!

The "Game Night Candy" 4-Pack

The whole product just seems like a knockoff, but really, it's not. It's officially licensed by Hasbro, the toy company that cares nothing about actually innovating games or coming up with new ideas.

Seriously?!

I mean, seriously, the games featured as part of this candy pack were all invented ages ago. They obviously just licensed the brands, collected their fee, and moved on.

Heck, take a look at the actual box art on these things. The Clue box depicts the cover used in the 2002 redesign, denoting a very abstract/cubic take on the '20s. It's like they took the cover for this, fired up Microsoft Word, and added the phrase "Candy" to the box. Very, very lame!

Here's a look at the other boardgames and pieces featured in this candy pack:

Monopoly Candy

Little candy dogs and racecars

Life Candy

Blue spinners and I think the Life car in candy form

Sorry Candy

Yellow and blue pawns

If you see this in the store and it looks interesting, you might want to move on. The little boxes are cute... but that's about it.

FernLaplante is on a distinguished road
OK, these candies are so gross. I found them at Walgreen's (I think) and couldn't give these things away. The taste is like stale evil.
