Shopping for New Glasses

I need to get my prescription updated on my glasses... and at the same time, pick out new frames. It's been years too long since I should have done this. However, the other day as I was talking with Amy and the left lens of my current glasses just decided to fall out for no reason, that sort of increased the determination.

My current glasses

I hate shopping. I hate shopping for glasses even more. As a person who does not have the luxury to wear contacts (I did for a few years before it was determined that my eyes are naturally too dry), selecting a pair of glasses is a big deal. Plus, I have one ear that's higher than another, which always makes it a challenge!

Anyway, Amy & I decided to start the process over the weekend by "just taking a look at a few frames" to get things going. So while running some errands at a local mall, we dropped by the LensCrafters. While there, I tried up a bunch of frames.

However, since I really, really, really hate this process, I'm asking for your help! Thus, we snapped some photos of various frames using a low quality cameraphone and I've uploaded them here. These aren't the final contenders, however, I'd be curious to hear your comments about which styles you like or don't like as I continue along this process.

Personally, I'd go with #4 for you. #5 looks a little too "European" and #9 looks a little too CHiPs.

But you should get what you like and what you see best with. I know that when I was looking for glasses one pair had really bad sight lines so I had to return them.

I actually vote #6....a little different but not crazy. Glasses are fun because you can totally create personality with them. I also like 7 and 8....but first instinct #6

I say 3 or 5... go with a new look Of course that's coming from the guy who has blue highlight because he wanted to do something different

So this is like a choose you own adventure only with your glasses? #9 makes you look somewhere between Tom Clancy and Steven King.

#4 seems to be "safe" - they look kinda like what you have now.

#2, #3 and #5 look more sauve than techy.

Honestly, I can't pick.... I'll just say to stay away from #9....

Yeah, there will be more. This was just an initial batch of frames to look at.
