Miss Scarlet gets respectable (just for the kiddies)

Amy and I are huge fans of the board game Clue. From alternate versions, to puzzles, to playing with friends, we have always liked the deductive murder mystery game.

Clue Mysteries boardgame

In 2002, the board game went through one of its many redesigns, introducing a new look with an abstract, 1920s feel. This new design was carried into various other Clue spinoffs since then, including Clue FX (2003), Clue Mysteries (2005), and Clue DVD (2006).

KFC's Clue Mysteries-themed "Kids Laptop Meal"

We own many versions and spinoffs of Clue, including these recent additions to the mythos. Hasbro has been trying to keep the franchise current through many channels (remember that the game was first sold back in 1949!) The other day I came across some advertising at a nearby KFC for a kids' meal featuring a Clue theme. Even though I never eat at KFC (see Super Size Me for some good reasons why), I stopped in and picked up KFC's "Kids Laptop Meal", featuring a box with Clue Mysteries themeing.

Clue Mysteries features Miss Scarlet and her theater

The Clue Mysteries game itself features a board and a lot of supporting elements, including cardboard standups for each of the characters, illustrating them standing next to their "house." In the case of Miss Scarlet, she is situated next to the Scarlet Theater. And given the typical backstory/representation of Miss Scarlett, she is portrayed as a voluptuous young vixen (always wearing red... except oddly in the Clue movie, she wore green).

The "Kids Laptop Meal" used the same artwork as Clue Mysteries for its games and photos, with one notable exception. Take a look at this comparison of the same Miss Scarlet pose featured in two different implementations... first in the Clue Mysteries game then in the Clue Mysteries-themed "Kids Laptop Meal"...

Looks like Miss Scarlet's attire was just a bit too racy for young, chicken-eating kids... resulting in some Photoshop-provided modesty!

I actually thought the first picture you posted was from the Happy Meal and I thought, Wow, that's a pretty racey picture of Miss Scarlet for a Happy Meal, so laughed when I saw the one at the bottom. Too Funny!! Melissa
